Message from
President

It is my great pleasure to extend my warmest greetings to all of you as we embark on a new term for HKICON. I am delighted and honored to have the opportunity to serve as the President of HKICON for the 2023-2025 term. On behalf of the Institute, I would like to extend my deepest thanks to our outgoing President, Brian Anderson as well as to the other council members for their service to the HKICON community.

It is an exciting time for us in Hong Kong as we have resumed normalcy, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to lead the Institute during this period of revival and outreach. The HKICON Council has been resuming more face-to-face CPD talks and tours. I would encourage our members to actively participate in these initiatives.

Regarding outreach, while it is encouraging to see that architectural conservation has gained increased public attention, significance of our heritage and technical challenges of its conservation are yet to be appropriately recognised. I am committed to working on one of HKICON’s missions, which is to enhance awareness and appreciation of our heritage and to acknowledge the contribution practitioners in the field. In the past two years, we increased our exposure to the general public through workshops, radio programmes, and CPDs with in-depth discussions on topics within broader contexts. Our new Council is committed to continuing this work, and I believe that by increasing awareness of our members’ work and highlighting the significance of architectural conservation, we can make a meaningful impact on the wider community.

I will continue to maintain close communication with relevant government departments regarding the development of policy, while also strengthening our role as a leading voice for architectural conservation in Hong Kong. Thank you all for your continued support towards HKICON and I look forward this new term.
