Accreditation

Accreditation

The Hong Kong Institute of Architectural Conservationists (HKICON) provides an accreditation framework to ensure that academic programmes in architectural conservation meet defined standards of quality, relevance, and professional competence.

Introduction

HKICON accredits both local and overseas academic programmes that prepare graduates for professional practice in architectural conservation. The accreditation system covers initial accreditation and periodic re-accreditation to support continuous enhancement of curriculum design, teaching, and learning outcomes.

Accreditation process

The accreditation process is structured into eight sequential stages as set out in the Accreditation Process Overview, guiding institutions from initial enquiry through to final decision and follow‑up actions. These stages provide a clear roadmap for Programme Heads and institutional leaders to plan submissions, host review activities, and respond to accreditation outcomes in a timely manner.

Eligibility, Assessment, and Post-Assessment

Academic programmes must meet eligibility criteria outlined in the Accreditation Procedure, before undergoing assessment against varies criteria. Post-assessment, institutions receive decisions with any conditions and must fulfil follow-up obligations such as improvement reports and re-accreditation preparation.

Enquiries

Institutions interested in applying for accreditation or seeking clarification on the procedures and requirements are invited to contact HKICON by email at admin@hkicon.org.
