About the CPD Talk:

Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a new technology enabling architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry practitioners to holistically manage information related to construction projects, from planning to design, tendering to construction and operations to facility management. To build capacity and cope with the growing demand of the use of BIM technologies in the construction industry, the Construction Industry Council (CIC) has launched the "CIC BIM Space". The newly established training center, one of the largest and most advanced BIM centers in Hong Kong, is equipped with the latest BIM hardware, 3D technology and advanced BIM systems and serves as a hub to organize BIM related educational events including seminars and workshops. Local projects with advanced BIM uses are showcased in its exhibition area. This talk will provide an overview of BIM and how the BIM system can effectively manage information across all stages of construction projects.

About the Speaker:

BIM Department, Construction Industry Council

Since 2013, the Construction Industry Council has promoted the use of BIM technologies in multiple aspects. With the setup of the BIM Department in 2017, CIC continues its efforts to raise public awareness of BIM by organizing various BIM educational and promotional events. With the help of one of CIC’s member organizations, the Hong Kong Institute of Construction (HKIC), BIM training courses are being organized in order for practitioners to develop their BIM skills. Additionally, to facilitate the healthy development of BIM in Hong Kong, CIC has introduced BIM Certification and Accreditation Schemes to ascertain competency of BIM personnel and quality of local BIM training courses.
